Definition of High quality pmma :

High-quality PMMA (Polymethyl Methacrylate), commonly known as high-quality acrylic or high-quality organic glass, is a homopolymer or copolymer of methyl methacrylate produced via sophisticated polymerization processes, with all performance indicators meeting the high-end industry standards.

Compared with ordinary PMMA, the core definition of high-quality PMMA centers on three key dimensions: purity, performance stability, and processing consistency.

High quality pmma includes Impact resistant   PMMA , Chemical resistant   PMMA , Wheather resistant   PMMA , Optical grade  PMMA , Flame retardant  PMMA , Anti static  PMMA, We have been producing  High quality pmma for more than 24 years.

Advantages and Disadvantages of High-Quality PMMA

High-quality PMMA (Polymethyl Methacrylate), also called high-grade acrylic or organic glass, boasts superior properties from high-purity monomers and precision polymerization, yet has inherent limitations.

Advantages:

Exceptional Optical Performance: Light transmittance ≥92% (near optical glass), haze ≤0.5%, minimal yellowing, and ≤3% transmittance loss after long-term UV aging, ideal for AR/VR lenses, LCD light guide plates, and automotive headlight covers.

Excellent Mechanical Properties: Higher tensile strength (≥75 MPa) and flexural strength (≥110 MPa) than ordinary PMMA, with stable molding shrinkage (0.3%–0.5%) for dimensionally precise parts in consumer electronics and medical fields.

Superior Weather Resistance: UV, acid, and alkali resistant, maintaining stable performance outdoors for architectural components (transparent roofs) and automotive parts.

Good Processability: Compatible with injection molding, extrusion, and engraving; stable melt flow enables mass production of complex shapes.

Safety & Eco-friendliness: Low VOC emissions (RoHS-compliant) and good biocompatibility, suitable for intraocular lenses and denture bases.

Disadvantages:

Low Heat Resistance: Heat distortion temperature only 80–100°C, unsuitable for high-temperature environments (>100°C).

Mediocre Impact Resistance: Inferior to PC/modified ABS; prone to cracking under strong impact, requiring modifiers for high-demand applications.

High Cost: 30%–50% pricier than ordinary PMMA, uneconomical for low-end uses.

Solvent Susceptibility: Easily corroded by ketones, esters, and aromatic hydrocarbons, causing surface damage.
