Excellent quality ABS refers to a high-grade acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer that outperforms general-purpose ABS significantly in all performance indicators, and meets high standards in terms of consistency, stability and application suitability. First, it delivers superior mechanical performance, with excellent impact resistance, tensile strength and rigidity, retaining good toughness even above -20℃ and resisting cracking or deformation, ideal for high-demand structural and precision parts.
Second, it features outstanding processing stability: uniform melt fluidity and minimal MFR batch fluctuations prevent defects like material shortage, silver streaks and warpage during molding/extrusion, ensuring high dimensional accuracy and production yield.
Third, its excellent appearance and coloring performance—a high-purity, smooth substrate—enables uniform coloring and enhanced finish via plating or spraying, meeting aesthetic needs for electronics and automotive interiors.
Fourth, it offers strong customization potential, accepting additives to gain weather resistance, flame retardancy, infrared penetration or antistatic properties, adapting to harsh operating conditions. Additionally, it resists weak acids, weak bases, alcohols and most aqueous solutions, extending product service life.
Drawbacks:
Its cost is 20%–50% higher than general-purpose ABS due to strict raw material and process requirements, ruling out low-cost applications. Unmodified grades have poor heat resistance (70–90℃ continuous use temperature) and UV resistance, softening under heat and yellowing outdoors without anti-UV additives.
It is also sensitive to ketones, esters and aromatic hydrocarbons, suffering swelling or cracking on prolonged contact.
Finally, it demands stricter control over drying temperature, mold temperature and injection speed than general-purpose ABS; improper parameters cause bubbles or shrinkage marks.
